Villa Poggio Salvi
Tuscany, Italy
Philosophy
Traditional wines refined through modern methods. Sangiovese Grosso aged exclusively in Slavonian oak casks, harvested entirely by hand to capture the mineral character of galestro terroir. Philosophy: wine born in the vineyard, shaped with knowledge in the cellar.
Reputation
Pierluigi Tagliabue acquired the estate in 1979, drawn to its exceptional southern exposure overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea on Montalcino's highest elevation. The name 'Poggio Salvi' recalls a historical refuge from plague, the galestro soils imparting mineral elegance to Sangiovese, a philosophy honored by his grandson Luca Belingardi's continued stewardship.
