Italy — wine
Tuscany
Soul of Italian wine culture. Sangiovese — in many clonal expressions — defines the region. Three iconic DOCG hierarchies: Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Super Tuscans (IGT wines — Sassicaia, Tignanello, Ornellaia) bypassed the DOC system from the 1970s using international varieties, rewriting the world's perception of Italian wine.
