The reputation — the story that sells at the table
A'Bunadh ('origin' in Scottish Gaelic) is consistently rated 95-97 points globally — one of the best-value cask strength expressions in Scotch whisky. Each batch (150+ released) achieves a slightly different ABV and character, making it a collector's staple. The Batch 60+ releases are particularly sought.
Practice
Aberlour (est. 1879) sits where the Lour Burn meets the Spey in the heart of Speyside. It is most celebrated for A'Bunadh — a cask strength, unfiltered, non-chill-filtered expression matured exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry butts with no age statement. Released in batches, each A'Bunadh batch achieves a different character. Owned by Pernod Ricard but operated with autonomy.
