Château de la Tour
Philosophy
Château de la Tour is the dominant landowner within the historic Clos de Vougeot — holding 5.5 hectares within the Grand Cru enclosure, including the most prized northern sector of old vines averaging 60+ years. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée represents their finest selection: exclusively old-vine fruit from the upper slopes near the wall, unified separately and aged in Allier oak. The estate converted to biodynamics in 2014 under François Labet's direction.
Reputation
Château de la Tour's Vieilles Vignes is considered by Allen Meadows (Burghound) and Jasper Morris MW to be among the finest Clos de Vougeot wines produced — consistently scoring 93-97 and outperforming many smaller-parcel Grand Cru holders in the enclosure. The estate's scale within Clos de Vougeot allows for selection that smaller producers cannot match, creating wine of extraordinary consistency and depth.
