Philosophy
Château Raspail-Ay is one of Gigondas's most respected traditional estates — run by the Ay family for generations, farming 20 hectares of old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre on Gigondas's distinctive limestone-clay plateau. Their wines represent the classic Gigondas style: concentrated, earthy, deeply fruited, with the natural power of old-vine Grenache from the village's best terroirs. No new oak, indigenous fermentation, and extended aging in old foudres preserve the wine's southern character.
Reputation
Château Raspail-Ay is considered by Wine Advocate (Neal Martin) and Jancis Robinson to be one of Gigondas's essential producers — their wines demonstrating the appellation's potential for age-worthiness and complexity. Scoring consistently 90-94, the estate provides exceptional value for old-vine southern Rhône power from one of France's most exciting lesser-known appellations.
