The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old is the premium expression of the iconic DoubleWood process — matured first in ex-bourbon American oak for 15 years, then transferred to ex-Oloroso sherry European oak butts for a further 2 years of finishing. The result is the benchmark expression of Balvenie's house philosophy: the vanilla and fruit of bourbon oak layered with the dried fruit and spice of sherry. More complex than the 12 Year Old DoubleWood, with the sherry integration deeper and the oak structure more evident. Consistently achieves 94-96 points.
