Argentina — wine

Valle de Uco

Argentina's most exciting wine region at 1000-1500m altitude in the Uco Valley, south of Mendoza city; limestone soils, extreme diurnal temperature variation (20°C+ daily range), and intense Andean sunlight produce wines of extraordinary freshness, complexity, and elegance. The region produces Argentina's most cerebral Malbec and has pioneered Cabernet Franc and white varieties at altitude. Cheval Blanc invested here (Cheval des Andes); Catena's Adrianna Vineyard is at 1450m.
