Spain — wine

Málaga DO

One of Spain's most historically celebrated wine regions, the Málaga DO covers the sun-drenched hills of the Axarquía and Serranía de Ronda north and east of Málaga city. Pedro Ximénez and Muscat of Alexandria grapes produce Spain's most distinctive fortified sweet wines — Málaga Dulce — with extraordinary concentration of dried fig, raisin, chocolate, and spice. The region is also producing quality dry wines from Ronda's high-altitude limestone vineyards as a revitalization of a tradition nearly lost to tourism and urbanization.
