Myanmar — wine

Myanmar Shan Highlands Wine Region

Myanmar's wine country, located in the Shan Plateau at 900–1,300 meters elevation around Heho, Taunggyi, and the famous Inle Lake — the country's primary tourist destination. The plateau's temperate climate, dry winters, and moderate rainfall create conditions where Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Tempranillo, and Chenin Blanc produce wines of surprising freshness and character. Red Mountain Estate (established 2003) has established Myanmar as a legitimate wine producing country, with wines served at Yangon's finest hotels and exported to Thailand, Singapore, and Japan.
