Grampians GI

Cool-to-moderate inland Victoria region at the foot of the Grampians (Gariwerd) mountain ranges; red volcanic soils and sandstone. Best known for elegant, peppery Shiraz (the Great Western style) and traditional-method sparkling wine from Best's and Seppelt. Altitude 200–450m; continental climate with cool nights and moderate rainfall. Victoria's answer to McLaren Vale Shiraz — more restrained and perfumed.
