How to start

Provenance turns a recipe you already cook into the whole dish: where each ingredient comes from, who stocks it near you, and what to pour with it. Five minutes gets you started.

Three steps

  1. Open the link Garth sent you and make an account. On iPhone, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen, and it sits on your phone like an app.
  2. Tap Bring a dish in, then Paste a link. Paste the address of any recipe you cook and tap Bring it in. About thirty seconds later your dish opens, with the method, the stockists and three things to pour.
  3. Tap Cook to cook it from the screen, one step at a time.

The four tabs

Kitchen: your own dishes. Recipes: four thousand six hundred dishes to keep. Library: sixty-three books, one per cuisine. Pour: your region's cellar and the pairing room.

The magnifier at the top searches everything and forgives spelling.

When something's off

Tap Tell Garth in the menu, tick a box, write a line, tap Send. He reads every one.

Your dishes are yours. Nobody sees them unless you share the link.

What you bring in and search for is counted, without your name, so the matching gets better.
