Greece — wine

Kefalonia Wine Region

Kefalonia is the largest of Greece's Ionian Islands and home to the Robola PDO — a white wine from the indigenous Robola grape grown on limestone hillside terraces at 300–800m altitude in the Omala valley. The combination of Ionian maritime breezes, volcanic limestone soils, and altitude produces white wines of astonishing mineral precision and citrus freshness. Kefalonia is also home to Mavrodaphne of Kefalonia — a sweet fortified wine of oxidative complexity distinct from the Patras version.
